Statement on FY25 Supplemental Closeout Budget

This week, Governor Healey signed into law the FY25 supplemental closeout budget, which included $18.3 million in Fair Share funds for student financial aid. This funding aims at closing a shortfall in allocated financial aid resulting in the lowest-income students facing a $400 loss (per pupil) in stipend support.

We applaud Governor Healey, Speaker Mariano, President Spilka, the Members of the Ways and Means Committees, and the entire Legislature for taking swift action to address this issue and maintain our commitment to affordability, stability, and equity in our public higher education system. We hope to continue working with the Legislature and the Administration toward building a sustainable solution to protect student financial aid and prevent these sudden shortfalls in the future.
